Saar Loop Tour
Right at the beginning of the trip, the Mettlach lock gently lifts the ship. Now you glide through the nature reserve of the 7 km long Saar Loop. The river performs a 300° loop here. Our ship passes the small ferry and turns around at Dreisbach. The trip ends back in Mettlach – an opportunity to visit the Villeroy & Boch Ceramics Museum and the Abbey Brewery.
King John Tour
From Saarburg, we set off into one of the most charming sections of the River Saar. The trip is named after the blind King John. His final mistake was to ride blindly into battle, but this did nothing to diminish his fame – on the contrary. Before the Serrig lock, we turn back. Passing the town and castle of Saarburg, we turn one last time – with a view of the Ockfen vineyards.
Day trip to Mettlach Early May – Late September
In the footsteps of King John, we start in Saarburg and pass romantic wine villages. The Serrig lock brings us towards Saarland with a lift of 14.50 metres. We reach Mettlach and continue into the Saar Loop. There we turn around at Dreisbach. Now you can explore Mettlach during a 3-hour stay. In the afternoon, we head back to Saarburg.
Day trip to Saarburg Early May – Late September
From Mettlach, our trip leads past the red rocks of the Düro hard stone quarry and continues through the small Saar Loop near Hamm. This is followed by the Serrig lock with an impressive drop of 14.50 metres. You reach Saarburg. Not only the castle and the waterfall are worth seeing. Discover the numerous restaurants and cafés during the 3-hour stay! Then it's back to Mettlach.
